体調を崩してるメルケルさん、モチベーションが下がっているメイさんなどの女性首相を横目に、会場で華やかに演説するイヴァンカさんの姿が引き立っていた。女性の力を活用しようという話題は彼女の十八番とはいえ力強く喋るイヴァンカさんが、取り立てて目玉のないG20会議の主役を演じたという印象を残した。

トランプ大統領がG20前から可能性としてつぶやいていた板門店訪問の可能性が、急転直下、実現した。トランプ大統領は30日午後、北朝鮮の金正恩（キム・ジョンウン）委員長と韓国と北朝鮮を分け隔てる非武装地帯（DMZ）にある板門店で面会した。トランプ氏は「いま軍事境界線を越えたことは大変光栄だ。大きな前進だ」と述べた。トランプ氏は金正恩氏をホワイトハウスに招待したという。これでG20ホスト役としての安倍さんの姿は完全に霞んでしまった。画面には顔が映っているが、実際には何も仕事をしなかった日本の総理大臣という評価になる。
